Image converter: PNG, JPG, WebP (also GIF, AVIF, SVG)
Convert images to PNG, JPG or WebP in your browser, several at once. Opens GIF, BMP, AVIF, SVG and anything else your browser can show. Nothing is uploaded.
Runs on your deviceRuns entirely in your browser: nothing you type or upload leaves your device.
How to use it
- Drop the images you want to convert, or click to choose them.
- Pick the output format: PNG, JPEG or WebP. For JPEG, choose the background color for transparent areas.
- Download each converted image.
When a site says "only JPG or PNG"
Many images you save from the web today are WebP files, and WhatsApp stickers are WebP too. Plenty of upload forms, older office programs and print shops still only take JPG or PNG, so the file you just downloaded gets rejected. The opposite also happens: you have a PNG screenshot of several megabytes and want a lighter JPG or WebP to send.
This converter opens anything your browser can display and saves it again in the format you pick. It works in batches: select all the WebP images in a folder and get them back as JPG.
Example: a WebP product photo for a JPG-only form
You saved a product photo from tienda-ejemplo.co and got zapato.webp, 1200×1200 pixels. The warranty form only accepts JPG. Choose Convert to JPEG and leave the quality at 90.
The row shows zapato.jpg, the same 1200×1200 dimensions, and the weight before and after. Don't be surprised if the JPG is heavier: WebP compresses better than JPG, so the same picture takes more space. If the image had a transparent background, JPEG fills it with the background colour you chose, white unless you change it. For a logo that will sit on a coloured document, pick that colour instead.
What converting doesn't do
Changing the format doesn't add quality. A small or blurry JPG saved as PNG gets several times heavier, but not sharper. Converting also doesn't remove a background: a logo on white stays on white in PNG, because only images that already had transparency keep it.
Animated GIFs and WebPs keep only their first frame. The images are drawn again by your browser, so the copy doesn't carry the original's hidden data (EXIF), such as the GPS location, and anything over 16 megapixels is reduced to that size. If your browser can't create the format you picked, the file is saved as PNG and the row tells you.
FAQ
Which formats can I open?
Anything your browser can display: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG and, in most current browsers, AVIF. HEIC photos only open in Safari; elsewhere, use the HEIC to JPG converter.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?
JPEG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background color you choose (white by default).
Can I convert an SVG to PNG here?
Yes, at the size written in the SVG file, which is often small; an SVG with no size at all may come out tiny or fail. For a sharp PNG at 2×, 4× or an exact width, use the SVG to PNG converter, which redraws the shapes at the size you ask for.
Can this tool make a background transparent?
No. It keeps transparency that is already in a PNG, WebP or GIF, but it doesn't erase a white or coloured background. To cut out a logo, you need an image editor. If you convert a transparent image to JPEG, the transparent areas are filled with the colour you choose.
Which format should I convert to?
JPEG for photos and for forms that ask for JPG: it opens everywhere. PNG for screenshots, text and logos that need sharp edges or transparency. WebP for web pages, where it gives the smallest file with the same look.
