Free, and as is

eThorns tools are provided free of charge, "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, including that they are accurate, complete, available or fit for a particular purpose. Tools and guides can change or disappear without notice.

Results are information, not advice

Results and guides are general information. They are not legal, financial, tax or professional security advice, and they don't replace your bank, a lawyer or the authorities. Verify anything important through an official channel before relying on it.

Some tools give an automatic opinion about a third-party site or message, such as the scam checker, the lookalike-domain checker and the website scan. That opinion is a best-effort reading of warning signs. It can be wrong in both directions, and it is not a statement of fact about a site or about who runs it.

Files you send to our server

Tools marked "Uses our server" (EPS to PNG or JPG, Compress PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint to PDF, PDF to Word, Scanned PDF to text (OCR), PDF to SVG, Remove PDF password) send your file to our server when you press their button. The file is converted in memory and deleted as soon as the result comes back: we never store it, look at it or use it for anything else, including training any system. Because we keep no copy, keep your original. Files can be up to 50 MB, and each connection gets a few conversions per minute. Conversions are automatic and can differ from the original, so check the result before you rely on it. Only send files you are allowed to share. The privacy policy has the details.

Acceptable use

• Use the tools only for lawful purposes, and only on files, domains and links you own, manage or are allowed to handle, such as a message you received.
• Don't use our server tools to probe, overload or attack systems, or to check sites at scale. Server tools are rate-limited, and automated or abusive use may be blocked.
• Don't try to break, bypass or overload eThorns itself.

Buying from our shop

Kits in our shop are sold through Polar, our reseller and the merchant of record, so a purchase is also governed by Polar's buyer terms. Each product page says what's inside and how you may use it. Unless the page says otherwise, the files are for use inside your own organization: you may print as many copies as it needs, but not resell them or share them outside it. If a file doesn't open or isn't what its page describes, write to us and we'll fix it or refund you.

Names and links to others

Company, bank and brand names appear only to identify them, for example to show a bank's official domain. eThorns is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them. Links to other sites and services are there for convenience; we don't control them and aren't responsible for their content or their privacy practices.

2 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, LOST PROFITS OR LOST DATA ARISING FROM USE OF THE SITE.

3 Information, not advice. Calculators give informational estimates, not legal, employment, accounting or tax advice. Security checks are automated and do not certify that anything is secure. Procurement data comes from public sources, may contain errors, and is not investment or financial advice. Consult a professional before acting.

4 What is not limited. Nothing in these Terms limits: (a) liability for fraud, wilful misconduct or gross negligence (dolo o culpa grave); (b) your rights under Colombian Law 1480 of 2011 or other non-waivable consumer law, including the legal warranty on paid products; (c) our personal-data duties; or (d) any liability that cannot lawfully be limited. If a clause is ineffective, the rest remains in force. The Spanish version prevails.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, eThorns and the person who runs it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or the inability to use, the tools, results or guides. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have as a consumer that the law doesn't allow to be limited.

Security research

If you find a security problem in eThorns itself, write to security@ethorns.com. We won't take action against good-faith research that avoids harm: no denial of service, no access to other people's data, and time for us to fix the issue before you publish it.

Changes

We may update these terms. The new version applies from the date shown at the top of this page.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of Colombia, and disputes go to the competent courts of Colombia. Questions: hola@ethorns.com.
