How to use it
- Enter your monthly base salary in pesos and the date the hours were worked. The tool uses the maximum week, the hour divisor, the Sunday surcharge and the night hours in force on that date.
- Type the hours of each kind: night hours within your schedule, daytime or night overtime, and hours on a Sunday or holiday. Tick the box if that Sunday or holiday was your rest day.
- Read each row's share of the hour, the value per hour and the amount, and the total. Copy the summary to compare it with your payslip. Everything is calculated in your browser.
Three rules that changed between 2023 and 2027, each on its own date
The value of an ordinary hour depends on the maximum working week, which Ley 2101 de 2021 lowers in steps: 47 hours from 15 July 2023, 46 from 15 July 2024, 44 from 15 July 2025 and 42 from 15 July 2026. The labour reform, Ley 2466 de 2025, raises the surcharge for working on a Sunday or holiday from 75% to 80% on 1 July 2025, 90% on 1 July 2026 and 100% on 1 July 2027, and moves the start of night work from 9 p.m. to 7 p.m. from 25 December 2025.
Because the steps fall on different days, the tool asks for the date the hours were worked and uses the values in force that day, from 1 January 2023 on. If a pay period crosses one of those dates, split the hours and calculate each part with its own date.
A worked example: September 2026 at $ 2.100.000
On 27 September 2026 the week is 42 hours, so the Ministry of Labour's divisor is 210 hours (42 ÷ 6 × 30) and an ordinary hour of a $ 2.100.000 salary is worth $ 10.000. Four hours of daytime overtime pay 125% each: $ 50.000. Three hours of night overtime pay 175%: $ 52.500. Eight Sunday hours within your schedule add the 90% surcharge: $ 72.000.
Two hours of overtime on that Sunday pay 100% for the hour, 90% for the Sunday and 25% for the overtime, 215% in all: $ 43.000. If the Sunday was your rest day and your salary doesn't pay those hours, tick the box: the Sunday rows then pay the hour too, 190% instead of 90%. In a 2023 concept the Ministry of Labour read the Código Sustantivo del Trabajo (CST) art. 179 that way, at 175% when the surcharge was 75%.
What the calculator leaves to you
It doesn't decide which of your hours were night hours or overtime: you enter them. Management and positions of trust are outside the maximum working day and don't earn overtime (CST art. 162), and a salario integral agreed in writing already includes night, overtime, Sunday and holiday pay (CST art. 132).
The percentages are the legal minimums: an employer may pay more, or apply the 100% Sunday surcharge before 2027. These payments are salary (CST art. 127), so they count for social security, cesantías and prima, but not for vacation pay, which leaves out overtime and work on rest days (CST art. 192).
FAQ
How much is the Sunday and holiday surcharge in 2026?
90% from 1 July 2026 to 30 June 2027 (CST art. 179, as amended by Ley 2466 de 2025 art. 14). It was 80% the year before and becomes 100% on 1 July 2027; the employer may pay 100% sooner.
What time does night work start?
At 7 p.m. since 25 December 2025, until 6 a.m. (CST art. 160, as amended by Ley 2466 de 2025); before that, at 9 p.m. Each night hour within your schedule adds 35% (CST art. 168).
Why is the hour divisor 210?
The Ministry of Labour divides the weekly hours by 6 days and multiplies by 30: 42 ÷ 6 × 30 = 210 from 15 July 2026 (220 with 44 hours). The salary stays the same (Ley 2101 de 2021 art. 4), so each hour is worth more.
Is a night overtime hour 175% plus the 35% night surcharge?
No. CST art. 168 says each of those surcharges is paid on its own, without adding another: a night overtime hour is 175% of the ordinary hour, and that already covers it being at night. The Sunday or holiday surcharge comes from another article (179), and it does add to them.
How many hours of overtime can I work?
At most 2 a day and 12 a week (Ley 50 de 1990 art. 22, as amended by Ley 2466 de 2025), with exceptions for the security and health sectors. The employer must keep a record of your overtime and give it to you with the proof of payment if you ask, and since that law it needs no permit from the Ministry of Labour to have you work overtime (CST art. 162).
